More Syracuse University

Very Classic: Nice red brick with Corinthian Columns. The frieze is a bit boring, but I like the eagle's feathers and his little legs sticking out of his "feather bellbottoms."

Eagle With a Chicken Body

I love this little gem on Broadway. It looks like it is supposed to be an eagle, but if you look closely the body looks more like a chicken.

Is An Eagle/Star Fence Patriotic?

There is a bit of an unappealing chunkiness to this, but I think it's more interesting than many of the boring, same old, same old iron-work fences I have seen.

I just think it was patriotic because I saw it in downtown Washington D.C. I wonder if I would have thought the same thing if I saw it in Jersey City, NJ?

Shields In Architecture

I (heart) logos! This shield must have to do with this church or a saint. It has a distinctly Christian symbolism.

Why does the caged bird sing?

Maybe Maya Angelou can tell you, but now we know why the bird is caged in the first place. To keep the other birds out.

This has such expressive texture. I love it!

Iron Work in Regensburg

I love this iron work, and the organic reliefs around the door. They aren't the same style, but have similar shapes, if not linear quality.

These are from a gate around a fountain across from the Gothic Cathedral in Regensburg if my memory serves me correctly.
