Native Americans in Seattle

I totally forgot to post these when I got home from Seattle because I was so busy.

These faces are on the Cobb Building which is now remodeled apartments. The building is on 4th Street, but I took the pictures from right outside the Rock Bottom Brewery on 5th. (That's the same location I photographed, and filmed this building sitting over top of me a couple of years ago.)

Don't Stick Your Tongue Out At Me...

Look at these faces!

These are on the south side of 27th street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues.

Another Crappy Phone Picture

Sorry, I like these faces though. This is somewhere on my walk between Lexington and 8th Avenue on 34th Street.

Tolley Hall, Syracuse University

This building was designed in 1889. It has nice little details.

This guy looks very Romanesque~In art history class my friends and I created some mnemonic devices to remember these things. Grotesque Romanesque. And look, I remember it 13 years later! Have I really been out of college that long?

D.C. Faces

I thought these were interesting faces, but I forgot to write down where I saw them. Some German Institute? I have no idea.

The Weight of the World

This little face has a lot of visual weight on his small head. He looks so serious. I love that concentration!

He looks like he's made of limestone too, so he has seen his better days. He's a bit weathered.

This building is on 17th Street in Washington D.C.

Faces Lurking in the Shadows

These are on the North side of 54th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues.

Leafy Face on the Lower East Side

This is on Clinton Street just south of Houston.

Scary Little Men

I believe this building is on 110th near Amsterdam...the guys are quite cartoony and grotesque.

Asian Dragons in Our Nation's Capitol?

This face looks like an Asian Dragon.

I have no idea where this was in Washington D.C., or what the building is. A hotel maybe? I got the photo quickly as I was marching in D.C., so I didn't jot down any information. That's also why the picture is a bit blurry; I didn't stop walking when I took it.

Neon Face

I have no idea who this is, and the colors look very 90's, but it is interesting nonetheless. It is on a building in downtown St. Louis.

More Library of Congress Pictures

What can I say? It's an interesting building!

Supporting Detail

This is a detail from under the eagle from yesterday. I love this as well.

The lion above for protection (who looks a bit high-maintenance with the mane teased that high.) Then there is the struggle of man below; He looks like he is pulling himself up, or at least holding on with some effort because of the look on his face. The ripe, round fruit frames the scene above with plenty. And then there is the texture below that looks like a spine with leaves on the side. It's very random and very interesting.

The expressive nature of the shapes is what gets me.

What a Door Handle!

This door was a fun surprise in Regensburg, Germany. And look at the trompe l'oeil windows next to the door. They're great. I didn't notice them until I was putting this post together or I would have took better pictures.

Figures in Vienna

The first three figures are on buildings right by the Opera house in Vienna, and the last two are in the Unsere Gardens.

Look at this strong stud. Holding up the building with a lion carcass clothing him.

This is a sculpture of Johann Strauss.

Famous Dead White Guys

This building is right on Stephansplatz.
The wall of famous men from history. From left is Leonardo da Vinci, Johannes Gutenberg, Galileo Galilei, and Christopher Columbus.

DETAILS: Look at how shiny the gold is...I wonder if it's real gold leaf.

I love the design above the old famous guys. The colors are great and I think it's an interesting pattern.
